PGT Windows & Doors in Miami, FL | Winslow Windows & Doors

We’re Winslow Windows & Doors, an independent PGT service provider serving Miami and the surrounding neighborhoods. We repair, maintain, and replace PGT windows and doors in homes across the city, specializing in Impact Windows - Miami and the impact-rated lines that Miami-Dade’s High Velocity Hurricane Zone code demands. The single biggest difference in our PGT work here comes down to one thing: we know which units carry a current Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance, and we install to that NOA drawing every single time. Why Miami Residents Choose Us for PGT Service

Ed Winslow started our Window Installation in Miami before most contractors understood what an NOA was. He grew up in Westchester, learned building science at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, and spent nearly two decades measuring, installing, and standing behind windows and doors for Miami homeowners. We’re not a national chain that flies crews in from Orlando. We live here. We know what Biscayne Bay salt does to aluminum frames. We know what August heat does to vinyl sashes. And we know exactly what Miami-Dade inspectors look for when they show up to sign off on a permit.

We handle PGT sales & service with a level of local accountability you won’t find from a faceless operation. My name is on the truck. That means I stand behind every window and door we touch.

Common PGT Windows & Doors Problems We Solve in Miami

  • WinGuard Vinyl sashes sticking or sealing shut in summer heat. West-facing exposures in neighborhoods like Little Havana and Miami Gardens get hammered by afternoon sun. Thermal expansion cycling makes vinyl sashes bind against the frame. We adjust, lubricate, and when needed, replace the balance system with OEM PGT parts.
  • Fogged glass from failed neoprene glazing seals. The salt-laden humidity that rolls off Biscayne Bay degrades seals years faster than you’d see in an inland city. When an impact unit fogs between the panes, patch repair won’t restore the NOA compliance. We replace the full sash or frame.
  • Corroded HVHZ steel reinforcement brackets in WinGuard Aluminum. Miami’s marine air is brutal on steel, especially at anchor points. We’ve pulled units where non-Miami crews used stainless-looking fasteners that weren’t marine-rated. The brackets crumbled. We replace them with the correct AAMA marine-environment hardware.
  • Worn PGT impact sash balance springs. Miami homeowners open and close windows year-round. That constant use, combined with high humidity corrosion, wears out balance springs faster than anywhere inland. We replace them and restore smooth operation.
  • Aging PGT 5500 Series aluminum frames. Pre-2000 stock throughout Hialeah and Miami Gardens. These non-impact units are at the end of their service life. When glass breaks or frames warp, we’re honest about whether repair makes sense or replacement with a WinGuard impact unit is the smarter long-term call.

PGT Service in Miami: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Here’s something most PGT pages won’t tell you. Miami-Dade County is the only jurisdiction in the United States where a PGT impact window can carry a valid Florida Product Approval and still fail a building permit inspection. The reason is the Notice of Acceptance. County inspectors don’t just confirm the product is approved; they verify on site that anchor spacing, edge distance, and buck depth match the product-specific NOA drawing exactly. A single mullion anchor placed a quarter-inch outside the approved pattern is a failed inspection and a pull-and-reset. We’ve lived this. Our crew reset a PGT WinGuard 3-lite horizontal roller in a 1970s CBS home in Hialeah after a failed street inspection. The original installer had placed two mullion anchors a quarter-inch outside the NOA pattern. We pulled the entire frame, re-drilled into the concrete block with epoxy-set anchors precisely at the NOA spacing, and the re-inspection passed the same day. That’s the difference between a contractor who reads about Miami code and one who works inside it every week.

PGT Models & Products We Service in Miami

We service the PGT lines most common in Miami homes. WinGuard Vinyl covers single-hung, double-hung, horizontal roller, and casement configurations. WinGuard Aluminum is the impact-rated, NOA-listed heavy hitter for high-rise and CBS construction. The PGT 5500 Series shows up constantly in pre-2000 Miami stock, and we handle it honestly, recommending replacement when it makes more sense than repair. PremierVue impact-rated sliding glass doors round out the lineup.

For parts, we use OEM whenever available because Miami inspectors match part numbers against NOA drawings. The glazing beads and HVHZ-rated anchor kits have to be right. For discontinued non-impact lines like the 5500 Series, we fit aftermarket weatherstripping and hardware only when it matches the original AAMA specifications. If a WinGuard impact unit has a failed seal or bent reinforcement, we recommend full sash or frame replacement to preserve NOA compliance, not a patch that won’t survive the next storm season.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."

OOdessa Fairbanks
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."
