Mr-Glass Door Installation: The Westchester Owner’s Guide

If your Mr-Glass door needs new installation hardware, rollers, or a full track replacement, a complete parts-and-labor job in Westchester typically runs $220 to $480 depending on whether we’re rebuilding the existing frame or swapping in new hardware. We stock Mr-Glass-compatible installation components on our trucks and can usually complete the work the same day we arrive. Most Westchester homeowners discover the problem the hard way: the door suddenly drags, the handle stops engaging, or the panel jumps off its track during a rainstorm when you’re already running late.

Here’s what you need to know before you spend a dime. We’re an independent installer based right here in the area, not affiliated with the Mr-Glass factory, but we’ve been installing and servicing their door systems since 2011. Ed Winslow grew up minutes from Tropical Park, so he knows exactly what salt air, humidity, and hurricane-season wind loads do to door hardware in Westchester.

Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass manufactures sliding glass doors and hinged entry systems in several series lines, and the installation components are not universal across all of them. The most common models we service in Westchester are the MG-3000 and MG-5000 sliding door series, plus the MG-800 hinged entry line. Each series uses different roller assemblies, track profiles, and strike plates, which is where we see a lot of botched DIY jobs. A homeowner buys what looks like the right roller online, only to find the wheel diameter or the bracket offset doesn’t match their frame. We’ve pulled brand-new universal parts out of doors that were installed two weeks earlier.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha that matters: Mr-Glass changed the roller housing dimensions on the MG-3000 series around 2018. Older MG-3000 doors take a 1-1/4 inch roller assembly; newer ones use a 1-3/8 inch assembly with a different mounting tab. They look nearly identical side by side, but the wrong one will bind and destroy the track within months. If you still have the original label on the door edge, the model number is there. If the label is gone, measure the old roller housing with a tape measure before ordering anything.

For the MG-5000 line, the installation weak point is almost always the bottom track channel. Mr-Glass uses an aluminum extrusion that’s thinner than what you’d find on a PGT or CGI door of similar size, and over a decade of Westchester humidity plus foot traffic, that track can wear through. We keep OEM Mr-Glass tracks and rollers in stock, along with quality-comparable aftermarket equivalents that match the original specs exactly. Both carry our workmanship warranty.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Door Installation Is Failing

  • The door drags or shudders when you open it. This is almost always worn roller bearings. Westchester’s coastal air accelerates corrosion, and once the bearings go, the wheel flat-spots and scrapes against the track instead of rolling.
  • The handle feels loose or the latch won’t fully engage. The strike plate or the mortise inside the door edge has shifted. You’ll feel it as a spongy click instead of a solid snap when you lock it.
  • You can see daylight through the door edge or lint accumulates at the bottom corner. This means the door panel has dropped out of square, usually due to a failed hinge or a track that’s bent from someone forcing a stuck door.
  • The door jumps the track or catches at one specific point. One roller has failed entirely, and the panel is now riding on the remaining hardware. Continuing to use it will gouge the track beyond repair.
  • Water pools at the threshold after a storm. The sill seal or the track weep holes are clogged with debris, and the door isn’t shedding water the way it should. Left alone, you’ll get rot on the subfloor under the track.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Westchester, a full Mr-Glass door installation parts replacement runs $220 to $480 installed, depending on what’s actually worn out. A set of replacement rollers with labor starts around $220 for a single sliding panel. Replacing both the track and the rollers, which we recommend when the track shows visible wear, lands in the $350 to $480 range for most standard-width doors. The range is driven by door size, panel weight, and whether the frame needs any shimming to get the door back perfectly square.

Every quote we give is line-by-line: parts cost, labor cost, and exactly what we’re replacing. You’ll never see a “miscellaneous hardware” charge on a Winslow invoice. And because Ed’s name is on the door, every installation parts job we do in Westchester is covered by the Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right.

We also pass along our standing offers to every Westchester customer: $40 off any repair over $200, a free second opinion on any written estimate you’ve received, and a 10% discount for seniors and veterans.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things before you call. Is the bottom track packed with sand and debris? Clean it out with a vacuum and a flathead screwdriver. Is the door visibly crooked in the frame? That tells us a roller has failed, same as the shuddering does. What we’d caution against is pulling the door panel yourself, especially if you don’t have a second person and a floor jack or pry support. A full-height Mr-Glass sliding panel weighs 120 to 180 pounds, and once it’s off the track, it wants to fall. Broken toes and crushed fingers are the usual outcome, not a fixed door.

If the door is binding, jumping, or grinding, call us at (850) 721-1218. Ed or one of our background-checked technicians will come out, diagnose the exact part that’s failed, and give you a written quote before any work starts. No trip charge if you’re in our home county.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Our insurance agent asked for the wind mitigation paperwork and Ed had the whole file ready the day the job closed, every opening photographed. The premium conversation went very differently this year."

OOdessa Fairbanks
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."

YYolanda Betancourt
★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."
